Europe will remain under the influence of a westerly flow, bringing storm systems with it. Today, storm warnings have been issued for many countries bordering the North and Baltic Sea. Below is the ESC overview.
2016.01.26 – Overview: Storm KARIN raging in UK and Ireland
Storm KARIN is currently raging in the UK and Ireland, bringing gusts up to 130km/h to the islands. ESC expects the storm to later affect parts of mainland Europe (see the warnings and watches issued). But it won’t stay calm in the British isles, because storm LEONIE is already forming over the northern Atlantic. See below for more information.
2016.01.23 – ESC Overview with two storms
There are currently two storms that ESC tracks. Storm IRIS, located near Iceland, has caused severe storm gusts over 160km/h locally in the UK, while the other storm is quite a bit weaker and is currently lingering over the northern Atlantic. 2016.01.19 – Still calm in Europe
Even though there is a nameless severe storm making landfall in Greenland currently, Europe will remain affected by a high-pressure system and hence the wind will be calm. However, the high pressure will gradually weaken and storm gusts might affect Iceland and Ireland towards the end of the forecast period.

2016.01.13 – Overview: No Storms!
Currently there are no windstorms in the ESC area. However, there might be storm gusts today in the far NW of the Iberian peninsula.
2016.01.12 – Overview: Fairly calm
The situation in Europe is currently fairly calm. However storm CAROLINA, currently located in the North Sea, is expected to bring some stormy weather to France and then further to central Europe. Also, towards the end of the 48h forecast period, a new storm is expected to make landfall in the northern Iberian peninsula and SW France.
2016.01.11 – ESC Overview: Storm warnings for the Mediterranean
The only storm currently in the region that MILK ESC observes is CAROLINA, located over the UK. However, a second storm, which will be named DANEILLA, will split off and move over France and the Iberean peninsula and further into the mediterranean. Further it might cause storm gusts in far eastern Europe early tomorrow morning. A storm watch has been issued for central Europe due to the possibility of a small storm system forming and moving into Germany.
