{"id":2004,"date":"2018-09-17T03:37:12","date_gmt":"2018-09-17T03:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milk-weather.org\/blog\/?p=2004"},"modified":"2018-09-17T03:37:39","modified_gmt":"2018-09-17T03:37:39","slug":"2018-09-17-former-hurricane-to-strike-uk-ireland-esc-european-windstorm-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milk-weather.org\/blog\/?p=2004","title":{"rendered":"2018.09.17 &#8211; Former Hurricane to hit UK, Ireland: ESC European Windstorm Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Forecaster: LH<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The former Hurricane &#8220;HELENE&#8221;, currently located to the southwest of Ireland with a central pressure of 987 hPa and peak wind gusts of around 120km\/h, is expected to move across the British Isles today.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to earlier forecasts, this latest forecast run suggests that the storm will be considerably weaker and will likely pose minimal risks to the areas it crosses.\u00a0<strong>Ireland<\/strong> will be reached first, especially the western coast; peak storm gusts may reach 90 or 100km\/h. The storm field is later expected to cross the southern <strong>UK<\/strong>, where storm gusts should not exceed 70km\/h in most places.
